The Book of Jude is one of the shortest books in the Bible because it only has 1 chapter and 25 verses. Nevertheless, this book has content that is beneficial for the spiritual life of God's people today. More specifically, this book deals with false teachings. And if the teaching is accepted, there are consequences for those who accept it. How to avoid false teachings? This essay will provide a further discussion of false teachings.
False teachings are like a deadly virus that hurts people. Viruses will easily enter the body of people who are immunocompromised, as well as if someone is weak in faith, viruses in the form of false teachings will easily enter and push us on the wrong path. That is why we need to be wary of teachings that appear to be true when, in fact, they lead to death. Vigilance needs to be increased by reading God's Word and praying to lead us in the true teachings.
Viruses that enter our bodies, if left unchecked, will have undesirable effects. False teachings are like with viruses. If we allow false teachings to guide our lives, there will be consequences that we will receive. Jude 1:11 gives an illustration of the consequences of following false teachings. They followed the path of Cain, although he worshiped God, heart strayed far from His truth. They also act like Balaam, who used the means of God's love as an opportunity to make money. And in the end, they perished as a result of disobedience like Korah. From the picture, we can see that the result of following false teachings is perdition.
No one in this world wants his life to end in destruction. In his book, Jude advises on strengthening faith. He encourages God's people to build themselves on the foundation of God's Word, pray in the Holy Spirit while waiting for God's Grace for eternal life. All these things need to be done by God's people to raise awareness and avoid false teachings.
PoV: Today's false teachings have begun to spread throughout the world. And consciously or unconsciously, there may be some heresies that we follow. One example is "lie for good", whereas in the Bible in the 9th commandment it says "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." It is clear that we follow some heretical teachings. That is why we are reminded again by Judas in his book to strengthen our spiritual faith so that we will not be shaken until the Lord's second coming.
In conclusion, God's people living in the last days are faced with many challenges of faith. One of them is confronted with heretical teachings. That is why Judas, in his book, gives descriptions of the consequences if we choose heretical teachings so that all of us as God's people keep our faith in God.
