Moses lived in Midian for 40 years and married Jethro's daughter. One day, as he led the flock to the backside of the desert, he saw a burning bush. It turned out in a flame bush there was God. God then said to Moses that God had seen Israel's suffering. God still remembers His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and God wants to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. God wanted them to return to the promised land, namely the land of Canaan
When the Lord was present in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush, Moses then wanted to turn aside to see it. Then when God saw that Moses had turned aside to see him, God said to him: "Draw not nigh neither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground." The statement for "Draw not nigh neither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet ..." is a commandment that God gave to Moses as a symbol of the respect that Moses had to give to God because God is holy. It means that the place where God is present, the place is holy. Likewise with Moses, when we face God, we must honor God because God is holy.
Besides being holy, God is a God who cares for all his people. When the Israelites were in the land of Egypt, they faced so much suffering. They were to be slaves and tortured in the land of the Egyptians. Then they cried out to God, and God heard their cry. The same God also always pays attention to all of us. God knows and hears our complaints. God will help us all to face every problem in our lives because God always takes care of us all.
God never forgets His promises, and He always keeps them. God had promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That is why God didn't let his people continue to be oppressed. As God said in Genesis 3:8 "And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; ..." God has kept His promises to the Israelites, God will also certainly keep His promises to all of us. God is not like humans who often break their promises. God is a good God who never forgets to keep His promises.
From this story, we can see what our God is like. He is a holy God, which is why we must honor Him. Besides being holy, He always pays attention to every difficulty, struggle, or problem we face. Through His promises, he always helps us because he never forgets any of His promises. Let us hold on and hope in God because He alone is the source of our hope.
